The Bank of Israel fulfills the functions assigned to it under the Bank of Israel Law, the Banking Law and the Foreign Currency Supervision Law.
The Bank of Israel’s areas of responsibility include:

  • Managing monetary policy
  • Advising the government on economic matters
  • Managing Israel's foreign currency market and foreign currency reserves
  • Monitoring and analyzing foreign currency activity
  • Supervising the banks
  • Safeguarding Israel's financial stability
  • Issuing currency
  • Serving as the banker for the government and the banks and representing the State before international institutions.
